Food & Nutrition 1 students enjoyed a Dairy and Non-Dairy smorgasbord taste-test. Among others some of the taste treats were Feta drizzled with Olive oil & cracked pepper, Asiago, Muenster, Cashew Milk, Kefir, and plain yogurt w/my Bees’ honey. Each student broadened his/her taste horizon by discovering a new favorite cheese and beverage! Yes!

Digital Design and Animation

Stop the Bleed Training
Forbush High School Health Science II students participated in Stop the Bleed training today and received their Stop the Bleed Credential. Training was provided by Jeff Hinshaw and Adrian Wood with the Yadkin County EMS.

Regional HOSA Competion
Forbush HOSA competed in Regional Competition this past Saturday at Mt Airy High school. Several students placed in the top 10.

Guest Speakers Educate Starmount's Foundations of Health Sciences Class
Members of the West Yadkin Fire Department came and spoke to Starmount’s Foundations of Health Sciences class about opportunities available in our community. They explained what the difference in an EMT and a Paramedic are and they talked through a few rescue situations they have personally been faced with. The kids enjoyed their time, instruction and being able to climb onto the truck. Thank you again to Chris Messick, Chief- FO2/EMT-B, Link King Dep. Chief – FO2/EMT-P, and Jon Armstrong Captain – FO2/EMT-B for taking time out of your busy day to give back to our community!

Carpentry Field Trip
On Friday, November 5th, Carpentry students from Starmount High School had the opportunity to go on a field trip. They toured Greystone at Roaring Gap Country Club as well as other jobsites within Yadkin County. Students were able to watch electrical rough ins, plumbing rough ins, floor system framing and many other trades in action. It was a successful trip!

Knives, Cuts and Hash Browns
Food & Nutrition 1 students spent two class periods practicing proper knife handling and a variety of cutting skills. Then each student turned a big russet potato into delicious golden country style hash browns that were seasoned just right.
Digital Design at Starmount High
Students in Mr. Tutterow’s Digital Design and Animation class at Starmount High School designed an obsolete clip for Mr. Martin’s Automotive class. The chip was 3D printed and used to replace broken clips on a vehicle.

Safelite Autoglass Visits Starmount High
Mr. Triplett with Safelite Autoglass visited Mr. Martin’s automotive classes on Friday, October 29th. He demonstrated replacing a windshield as well as repairing damage to glass.
He also discussed career opportunities and earnings potential.
SHS HOSA Community Service
Starmount HOSA students completed their first community service project last week. After talking through the importance of mental health, they painted walls in the girl’s bathroom in E building in hopes of turning someone’s bad day around! (See before and after pictures below.)
