Marketing Students at FHS Create Products

This year's high school marketing students were asked to create and market an original product. Throughout this semester-long project, students developed employability and soft skills including project management, research and analysis, creativity, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Below is one student’s thoughts on her project:

“I was inspired to create my PBM (Performance Based-based Measurement) when going through my normal day to day life. As a cashier at Walmart, I realized there are many communication barriers between my fellow cashiers and our customers, which may make them feel less welcome than our English-speaking customers. My PBM product was an earpiece that used a real human voice to translate both what the wearer hears and says to make translated communication seamless and less robotic.”  - Maddalynn Page, FHS Marketing Student

Starmount High Students Create Board Games

Students in Mr. Tutterow’s Game Art and Design class were required to create a board game as part of their Proof of Learning for the course.  Some of the games are listed below.

SMS Students Create Videos

Jaslene Vazquez-Hernandez and MacKenzie Schroeder, both 8^th grade students in Mrs. Matthews Exploring Business & Marketing class, created the attached “EOG Tips” video using Clip Chimp.  They wrote scripts, found the tips, learned Clip Chimp, filmed, produced and edited the video.

An excellent example of hands-on real-world learning in CTE.

Sheriff's Department Visits Health Science Students at SHS

Students in Mrs. Matthews’ Foundations of Health Science class have been learning about biotechnology careers in healthcare.  Officers from the Yadkin County Sheriff’s office visited and showed students how to do fingerprints.

FHS Drafting Students Visit New Home Building Site

Mr. Brendle’s Drafting II – Architectural students participated in a field trip to Boonville on Thursday, May 11^th, to look at a house under construction.

Thanks to Wishon & Carter Builders and Mr Ryan Boles, Project Manager for Wishon & Carter, for coordinating this visit.

New Starmount Middle School Band Logo

Emma Hunt, a student in Mrs. Matthews’ Business & Marketing class—also a band student, created the logo for SMS Band. She is modeling the new logo on a t-shirt.
