Health Science Students at Forbush High

Students in Foundations of Health Science are learning about the importance of communication in health care.  Students are placed back to back and asked to provide their partner with instructions to replicate the image provided.  



HOSA officers shop for shoebox supplies for Operation Christmas Child as part of community service and leadership development. Students were provided a budget and had to shop for supplies for boxes within that budget. Students shopped for children of all ages.

PIT U and PIT Weld U Visit Forbush High

Instructors from PIT U and PIT Weld U spoke to Mr. Senter’s automotive students at Forbush High School about their various programs and career opportunities.  They also had an interactive welding lab so the students could get some hands on practice.

The school offers AWS certifications and is located in Mooresville, NC.









Shower Celebration at Forbush High

Students in Mrs. Saddler’s Child Development class wrapped up their objective on Prenatal Development, Healthy Pregnancy and Delivery by having a baby shower, complete with decorations, games and finger foods.  Child Development students planned games and activities for the shower while Food and Nutrition II students helped prepare food.  “Mommies-to-be” were selected by random drawing and they participated by wearing the pregnancy simulator bellies.  Some of the games created by the various groups were “The Price is Right”, “Don’t Say Baby”, “Guess the Baby Food” and “What Am I”.  Students and adults alike seemed to enjoy the shower.
















Load the Fridge Activity at SHS

Students in Ms. Ferrelli's Food & Nutrition I students participated in a "Load the fridge" activity.  This endeavor reviews proper placement of foods in the refrigerator based on their "cook-to" temperatures.





The University of Northern Ohio Visits Forbush High

Mr. Traver, from the University of Northern Ohio, spoke to Automotive students at Forbush High School about career opportunities for their future.  UNOH is one of few schools where students can earn a 4 year degree in Automotive, Diesel and other select technical fields.  UNOH also offers numerous certifications, diplomas and Associate Degree programs in many technical areas.

Starmount High School Celebrates Drive your Tractor to School Day

FFA sponsored Drive your Tractor to School day on October 1, 2021. Several members participated, as you can see below. 

























The North Carolina Masonry Contractors Association visits Starmount High School

Students at Starmount High School got an early start to celebrating Careers in Construction Month, which is celebrated in October, when Mr. Ryan Shaver with NCMCA visited on September 30.  Mr. Shaver gave demonstrations and also allowed students to get their hands dirty practicing beginning masonry skills.  Mr. Boles’ and Mr. Tutterow’s Construction Core students were able to attend, as did Mr. Boles’ Carpentry I class.

Mr. Shaver also talked to the students about the job market and salaries that could be earned with this skill.

Student’s participated and seemed to enjoy this opportunity outside the normal classroom setting.
