The North Carolina Masonry Contractors Association visits Starmount High School

Students at Starmount High School got an early start to celebrating Careers in Construction Month, which is celebrated in October, when Mr. Ryan Shaver with NCMCA visited on September 30.  Mr. Shaver gave demonstrations and also allowed students to get their hands dirty practicing beginning masonry skills.  Mr. Boles’ and Mr. Tutterow’s Construction Core students were able to attend, as did Mr. Boles’ Carpentry I class.

Mr. Shaver also talked to the students about the job market and salaries that could be earned with this skill.

Student’s participated and seemed to enjoy this opportunity outside the normal classroom setting.
