Partnerships at Starmount Middle School
Students in Mrs. Matthews' Exploring Business and Entrepreneurship classes are continuing their study on the various types of businesses. This week they are working in pairs to complete their project on partnerships.
Cook-to-temperature Toss
Students in Ms. Ferrelli's Food & Nutrition I classes review cook-to temperatures by playing a game while getting some fresh air! Students recall the cook-to-temperature for the food their right thumb lands on when they catch the ball.
Photoshop Project in Adobe Visual Design
Students in Mr. Wagoner's Adobe Visual class are working with their new cameras and the green screen. Pictured below are students shooting with the green screen and also a finished project, "Mickey & Me."

What's Happening in the Kitchen at Starmount High?
Students in Ms. Ferrelli's Food and Nutrition I class are learning to: 1) properly calibrate a stem thermometer 2) know the difference between a simmer and boil, then how to cool food properly and 3) recognize the benefits of refrigeration and what the acronym FATTOM represents---the conditions that grow bacteria quickly

Future Entrepreneurs at Starmount Middle School
Seventh and eighth grade students at SMS are learning about the different types of businesses in Mrs. Matthews' Exploring Business and Entrepreneurship class. One type of business is sole proprietorship. The students created their own businesses and made flyers and business cards. These students also learned the advantages and disadvantages of a sole proprietor ship.

Health Science 2 Students Learn Life-Saving Skills
Students in Health Science 2 are working on CPR certification and choking skill for the Performance Based Measure. Students must demonstrate and verbalize steps to assist an adult and an infant who may be choking. Students are using infant manikins and Adult Anti Choking Trainer for simulation. Both the manikin and Anti Choking Trainer have a foam object that is expelled during demonstration.

Corporate Lawyer Sherri Pardue Speaks to Business Law Students
Sherri Pardue, corporate lawyer for VF Corporation, spoke to Mr. Rodney Wagoner's Business Law class on September 7th. She spoke regarding contract law. VF Corporation brands include Vans, The North Face, etc.
