Health Science Education at Forbush High

Adrianna Sloan teaches Health Science I & II at Forbush High School.  She has taught at Forbush for almost 9 years.  Mrs. Sloan is also the HOSA Advisor for the FHS chapter.  

Mrs. Sloan was awarded the State HOSA Advisor of the Year for 2 consecutive years and was also YCS CTE Teacher of the Year for 2022-2023. 

















Health Science Education at Starmount High

Natalie Matthews teaches Health Science I & II at Starmount High. This is her 2nd year teaching for Yadkin County Schools.  She is also the HOSA Advisor at SHS.

Students in the Health Science I class are eligible to earn First Aid certification during this course.  Health Science II students may earn OSHA-10 certification as well as CPR and Stop-the-Bleed credentials.

CTE State Administrator of the Year

Congratulations to Dr. Robert “Boomer” Kennedy! 

He was named the CTE State Administrator of the Year at the NCACTE Administrators Conference on February 20, 2024.

Dr. Kennedy has been a true advocate for CTE in YCS and this award is well deserved.

College Representatives Present to Starmount High Automotive Students

Matt Eller, a representative from UTI/Nascar Tech came to talk to students in the Automotive Service classes at SHS on February 2 about the programs the school offers.

Family and Consumer Science at Forbush High

Maggie Sizemore, Jolie Saunders and Lawanda Brown teach Family and Consumer Science courses at Forbush High School. 

Ms. Sizemore has been with YCS for almost 25 years and teaches Child Development and Apparel and Textile Production I & II.

Ms. Saunders joined FHS in 2023.  She teaches Food and Nutrition I & II. 

Ms. Brown is a retired teacher and now teaches part-time.  She returned to FHS in 2022 and teaches the Principles of Family and Human Services course.

Students in the Food and Nutrition classes are eligible to earn ServSafe credentials as part of the class.

































 

Family and Consumer Science at Starmount High

Lynne Trivette and Amy Fann teach Family and Consumer Science courses at Starmount High. 

Ms. Trivette has been with Yadkin County Schools and taught Family and Consumer Science courses for almost 20 years.  She currently teaches Child Development, Early Childhood Education I and Apparel and Textile Production I & II.

Ms. Fann has held various teaching positions for YCS since 2007.  She currently teaches Food and Nutrition I & II at SHS.  She also teaches a virtual Microsoft Excel class for several students at the Yadkin Success Academy.

Students in Food & Nutrition II are eligible to earn the ServSafe Food Manager certification.  Students in the Early Childhood I class are eligible to earn the North Carolina Early Childhood credential.  Both credentials are industry recognized.





























Computer Science and Information Technology at Starmount High

Jeffery Tutterow and Rodney Wagoner teach CSIT courses at Starmount High.

Mr. Tutterow teaches Digital Design and Animation I and Game Art Design.  He also teaches Construction Core and Carpentry courses in the Trade and Industrial Education program area.  Mr. Tutterow has been with YCS for 3 years.

Mr. Wagoner teaches Adobe Visual Design I & II.  He also teaches Drone Technology I & II in the Trade and Industrial Education program area.  Mr. Wagoner has been with YCS for 4 years.

Students in the Adobe courses are eligible to earn industry recognized credentials in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
