Women in Construction

NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research), along with the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), celebrated Women in Construction Week (WIC Week), the first full week of March, to highlight the contributions of women in the construction industry and raise awareness of opportunities for women in the field.

Forbush Foods II Students Visits Wilkes Community College

Mrs. Saunders' Foods 2 class from Forbush High School visited the Stone Culinary Center at Wilkes Community College. The students toured the department and also participated in a hands-on demonstration making chocolate chip cookies and homemade tortillas for tacos. The tour was led by the WCC faculty, Chef Nilo and Chef Wallace.

SHS Animal Science II Students Learn Fish Anatomy

SHS Animal Science II students enjoyed learning about fish anatomy and physiology through a fish dissection unit. Each student must learn the anatomy and be able to pinpoint their location and explain each part's function and how these organs work together to allow the fish to survive in its environment.

FHS Carpentry Students Complete Projects

Students in Mr. Walker’s Carpentry I & II classes completed the metal application for the softball concession stand last week.

They also took a field trip to a construction job site on February 14^th.

Thanks to Mr. Walker for continuing to expose these student to real-world situations.
