Medical Device Inventions in Foundations of Health Science at FHS

Students in Mrs. Sloan’s Foundations of Health Science class became inventors with their latest project assignment.  Students were to come up with an idea for a new product that would improve healthcare.  They then had to complete a model of the project and also a slide presentation which they presented to Ms. Sloan and their class.  Projects are shown below.

“The Nutritional Scanner” will scan food and display the actual nutritional content of the food that was passed through the scanner.

“Pluto” the Paraplegic Aid – This artificial limb will contain artificial nerves that send signals to the brain to initiate movement.

The Specialized Health Sensor, or SHS, is a tiny implant that would monitor water intake, sugar level, calories, vitamins and cholesterol, therefore helping patients to make healthier choice.  There would be an app that would connect to your smart phone for this device.

The SAED, or Self Automated Electrical Defibrillator would be worn at all times by the patient and allow them to deliver a shock to the heart without assistance in an emergency situation.

“The Medical Watch” has sensors but also allows patients to enter information about additional symptoms.  The patient would then be alerted if they need to seek medical assistance.
