HOSA Happenings at Forbush High

Fall Blood Drive

On September 24th of 2021, Forbush HOSA partnered with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive in the Forbush High School gymnasium. The blood drive was successful by collecting 157 units of blood.  HOSA is a student-led organization with a focus on leadership development and community service. Forbush HOSA is led by advisor Adrianna Sloan RN, BSN.

 Vision Screening Training and Screening

On October 15th of 2021, 27 students of Forbush High School HOSA volunteered on their day off of school to participate in vision screening training through the Prevent Blindness Organization.

Veteran’s Day Project

HOSA members decided they wanted to give back to current staff members at Forbush High School that had served in the Armed Forces. HOSA members delivered a variety of candy bars as well as a signed Thank You card to veterans at Forbush High School. Forbush HOSA is thankful for veterans who fought for our freedom.

YMCA Shopping

Thanks to YMCA, members of the HOSA organization were provided with an amazing opportunity to help kids in our local community. Fourteen HOSA members participated and were given a 100 dollar gift card per kid that allowed us to mark things off of their Christmas wish list. HOSA members met at the Walmart in Elkin on December 2nd, 2021 to shop for the wishlist!  Together, members shopped with joy in their hearts because at the end of the day it was to make a difference in the lives of these kids. Once members had finished shopping and checking out, items were turned into the YMCA representatives to be carried out to their new owners.
