Forbush HOSA Officers Pack Shoeboxes

On October 1st, the HOSA officers shopped at the Elkin Walmart and bought supplies to pack shoeboxes for girls and boys in need. We packed over 30 shoeboxes and were split into 3 different groups. Each group was for a different age group.  The first age group was 2-4, the second age group was 5-9, and the last age group was 10-14. Then, on October 13th, the HOSA officer team packed the shoeboxes with the supplies we bought. Each age group had 10 boxes, 5 for girls and 5 for boys. Each girl and boy got essentials such as toothbrushes, spoons, cups and bowls. The children also received notebooks, pencils, stickers, and toys that were suitable for their age such as Barbie dolls, Jurassic Park figures, and tennis balls. After packing the shoeboxes, our officers Reagan and Riley Jester dropped off the shoe boxes at Union Grove Baptist Church.  From there, the shoe boxes will be sent out to the children.

Forbush HOSA would like to express a sincere thanks to Union Grove Baptist Church for its continued partnership year after year with the shoebox project.

Pretty in Pink

Friday, October 6th, 2023, FHS HOSA teamed with FHS Athletics to raise money for breast cancer in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month during a home football game. Everyday that week, our team members would announce a fact to the school each morning to give awareness about breast cancer. During school, HOSA members would gather in Mrs. Sloan’s classroom and prepare for the football game. HOSA members put stickers of the breast cancer symbol as well as encouraging messages on a sheet of paper that allowed people to place a pink ribbon for family members’ and friends’ as a sign of remembrance towards them. Our attendees wore pink in support for Breast Cancer Awareness and stood at the gate accepting donations in a pink decorated bucket. Due to our support from the football game, we were able to raise $1,000 for the American Cancer Society for those affected with breast cancer.
