Second graders from our elementary schools visited Lone Hickory Arena on April 29 to participate in Ag Awareness Day, sponsored and organized by our local Cooperative Extension office!

FHS Hospitality Students Earn Credential

Several students (pictured below) in Mrs. Funks’ Hospitality and Tourism Management I class at Forbush High School have earned their American Hotel and Lodging Association Certified Guest Service Professional credential. This is an industry recognized credential in the hospitality field.

FHS Students Earn ServSafe Credentials

The students pictured below in Mrs. Saunders’ Food and Nutrition II class have earned their ServSafe Food Protection Manager credential.

Health Science II Students Visit Northern Hospital

Health Science 2 students from Starmount High School recently toured Northern Hospital in Mount Airy. They learned about the many departments at the hospital, including Surgery, Emergency Department, Radiology, Support Services, and even the morgue. Thank you to the staff at Northern, especially Dan Combs and Tina Beasley, for hosting our students.

Fire Marshall Conducts Training at FHS

Students in several CTE courses attended Fire Extinguisher training conducted by the Fire Marshall Ricky Leonard, Deputy Fire Marshall Handy and Assistant Fire Marshall Eller.

Seniors Attend Job Fair

Seniors at Forbush High School and Starmount High School had the opportunity to attend a Job Fair on Wednesday, April 9th, to explore options for part-time and full-time employment after graduation. 

There were over 30 different businesses, healthcare organizations, emergency services, and employment support resources in attendance.

Thank you to Mrs. Audrey Hayes, YCS Career Development Coordinator, for planning this event.
