Agriculture Education Students are Busy at Starmount High
Students in Mr. Allen’s Ag Mechanics I class at SHS are learning to use the 3-4-5 method to square a corner. This is essential for the proper layout of future construction of various projects such as concrete pads and foundations.

Middle Schoolers Enjoy Environmental Field Days
The Yadkin County Cooperative Extension office hosted Environmental Field Days for students from Forbush and Starmount Middle Schools on September 27 and 28. Students had a great time learning about a wide variety of topics, including composting, horticulture, insects, apples, recycling, and soil composition.

Construction Students Learn About Safety
In Construction Core, students learn how to inspect and put on a fall protection harness. Students in Mr. Tutterow’s class at Starmount High become proficient at this skill by practicing putting on the harness.

FHS Principles of Family and Human Services Learn from Guest Speaker
On Thursday, September 14th, the Principles of Family and Human Services classes at Forbush High School learned about Non-Profit organizations.
Our guest speaker was Jennifer Smitherman, President of the
Live Like Norah foundation.

Students in Mrs. Vestal's Exploring Personal Characteristics and Careers class work on their PowerPoint projects about their family as they enjoy the new outdoor classroom at SMS.
Construction Core at Forbush High
Students in the shop at FHS are learning a little about masonry. They are building 5 courses of brick making sure they are level and plumb. This gets the students looking forward to hand-tools as they finish up Construction Math.

Students in Mrs. Matthews’ Exploring Business and Entrepreneurship
class are creating businesses that will together make up “Starmount Valley”.
As the first phase of the project, students are creating
models of the building that their business will be housed in.
Students create the business, a logo, a tag line and other specifics
about the business, utilizing real world, critical thinking skills.
