The 7th and 8th grade business students at SMS created a new energy drink for a particular target market. They were required to create a presentation, prototype of the bottle with their logo on a label, create a flyer from Canva, and create an audio or video commercial. Forbush Students Visit the Historic Richmond Hill Law School
Mrs. Angie Funk’s Sport & Event Marketing students participated in a field trip to Richmond Hill Law School, which is located in Yadkin County, on November 18.
Over the last few weeks the class has researched both the history of the property and the current marketing practices being utilized to promote this local historical landmark. Currently, marketing opportunities are being underutilized. Our class will work toward generating new promotional ideas, along with presenting potential event opportunities for the future.
Dr. Denny Key (FHS Principal),
Lawanda Brown (FHS CTE FACS teacher), and Angie Funk (FHS CTE
Business/Marketing teacher) accompanied the class to the property.
We were met by Eugene Brown, Board Member of the Richmond Hill Law School
Commission. Mr. Brown gave us a tour of the property, while he and Mrs.
Brown shared with us historical facts and current marketing practices.
Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Brown for hosting this informative experience for our students!

FHS Technology Engineering and Design Students Build Towers
Below are pictures from Mr. Cockerham’s Technology Engineering and Design (TED) class Paper Tower Project. Students had to build a paper tower that stood on its own for at least 15 seconds. Each team had three pieces of 8.5"x11" copy paper and 18" of masking tape. Minimum height was 40" for the tower. The three young ladies that won were able to build a tower 95" tall. The closest towers to that were both 84". It was fun to watch them all work on their projects which became more of a competition than just a project.
