SMS CTE Students Work on Energy Drink Projects

SMS 7th & 8th grade business/marketing students are working hard on an Energy Drink Project. Students are pretending they work for a real-world marketing department. We are at the beginning stages of this project. Be on the lookout for their finished products. Coming Soon!

Part 1 of their project was to create a bottle label. Students created names and designed logos using CANVA.







Starmount Middle School Career Fair

Starmount Middle School hosted a Career Fair for their students on October 28th. SMS students had a chance to meet representatives from local businesses and organizations and learn about future career opportunities in our community. Thank you to SMS Counselors Emily Sellers and Abby Gillis for setting up the event, and to the teachers and administrators at SMS who supported this career exploration opportunity! Also, thank you to the businesses and organizations who visited SMS and shared their experiences with our students!

Another Tour...

Starmount FFA students enjoyed their trip to Ozark Fisheries. Ozark was established in 1926. Raising and selling quality goldfish and koi throughout North America for over 95 years. They also raise crawfish and tadpoles. They have over 300 ponds on location. Formerly known as Grassyfork Fisheries (east. 1899) they helped put Martinsville, Indiana on the map known as the “Goldfish Capitol of the World!”

Starmount FFA Students Attend National Convention

Starmount FFA members enjoyed touring downtown Indy and seeing the state legislative building and the Indiana State Soldiers and Sailors Monument which is a 284 ft. 6 in. tall neoclassical monument.  We also toured Keeneland race track in Lexington KY, the Louisville Zoo, and Tuttle’s orchard in Martinsville, Indiana. 

This event is the nation's largest annual gathering of students. Students have the opportunity to explore career and educational opportunities from more than 450 industry-leading exhibitors at the Expo and participate in educational workshops and tours.

The 4 Ps of Marketing

SMS Business/Marketing students are learning about the 4Ps of marketing also known as the Marketing Mix. The class chose from 12 different brands and had to research the 4Ps of that brand. The group of young ladies pictured below had Hidden Valley Ranch.

"Dream It Do It"

Eighth grade students from Starmount Middle School and Forbush Middle School recently toured local businesses and visited the Yadkin Campus of Surry Community College as part of "Dream It Do It," a career awareness initiative organized by Yadkin County Schools and the Yadkin Chamber of Commerce. It took coordinated and collaborative efforts between our middle school teachers, administrators, and business leaders to make this happen!
